Description of the assignment

The open position is for a qualified compliance officer to work within the Compliance Team, based in Zürich. Mission is transversal across 3 business lines (BP2S, CIB and WM) and consists in:
For BP2S: ensuring compliance of the Branch with external and internal regulations while actively managing operational, regulatory and reputational risks. 
For CIB and WM: KYC reviewing of Swiss based Corporates, Financial Institutions and Wealth Management clients.
The Compliance Officer will report to the Head of Compliance BP2S Zürich and KYC CIB & WM – Zürich Site

Main activities

  • Check, challenge and validate Know your Customer (KYC)/Due Diligence documentation prepared by the 1st line of defence (1LOD)
  • For BP2S, manage politically exposed persons (PEP) and sanctions alerts (SUN tool used by the Bank) and suspicious transaction alerts (deriving both from the constant vigilance exercised by all staff within the Branch and from the Actimize AML tool used by the Branch to detect suspicious/unusual transactions) 
  • Contribute in training and informing 1LOD staff about compliance matters
  • Identify, investigate and escalate serious cases of non-compliance to the Head of Compliance in a timely manner and support the Head of Compliance in its choice of instructions and counter-measures
  • Participate in compliance projects launched by the group and locally, and to the different reportings to be provided
  • Interface to Sales and Coverage Teams, Due Diligence Teams and other related functions, and cooperation with other compliance functions in Switzerland as well as in other BNPP Sites 

Searched profile

  • Bachelor/Master degree in law/business administration, postgraduate studies in Compliance Management or equivalent
  • Good understanding of BP2S products and activities and generally of the securities services activities
  • Very good working knowledge of English and French (spoken and written), German is a plus
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in international banking and finance (preferably including experience in the securities services/post trade industry or in the investment or corporate arm of an international bank)
  • Good interpersonal team skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Analytical, organisation and prioritizing skills together with attention to detail; logical thinking 
  • Strong sense of integrity and discretion
  • Solution oriented mindset while maintaining firm compliance integrity
  • Knowledge or experience of audits and controls
