Pascal Boris succeeds Louis Bazire as head of the BNP Paribas (Switzerland) SA Group

Geneva, 20 September 2007 – The Board of Directors of BNP Paribas (Switzerland) SA today announced the appointment of Pascal Boris as Head of Territory for BNP Paribas (Switzerland) SA, the leading foreign bank in Switzerland. He succeeds Louis Bazire, who has been appointed Head of Territory in Brazil.

Pascal Boris, 57 years of age, has degrees from Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) Paris as well as from the prestigious New York University and London Business School. He joined BNP Paribas in 1988 as Director of bond business in Switzerland and was then appointed Head of the North American network in Paris in 1990. From 1992 to 1999 he headed the banking and specialised finance business line from London and since 1999 has been UK Head of Territory. He began his banking career at Chase Manhattan Bank in London in 1975 and held posts in Paris, New York, Geneva and London, where he was Managing Director of Investment Banking.

His extensive experience of the international banking world has made this outstanding financier and manager a top-class corporate and investment banking specialist.

Georges Chodron de Courcel, Chairman of the Board of Directors, explained: “BNP Paribas in Switzerland can count on Pascal Boris’s experience, particularly in corporate and investment banking, but also in the bank’s other areas of business. With his leadership skills and know-how he will undoubtedly contribute to the development and expansion of all the Group’s business activities in Switzerland.”

Talking about his new role, Pascal Boris said: “I will work to build up the Group’s various activities in Switzerland, in particular by reinforcing BNP Paribas’s position as the undisputed leader in commodities and shipping financing. This sector recorded an exceptional performance in 2006, and I plan to ensure its continued development going forward. I also want to repeat the excellent results achieved by BNP Paribas Private Banking and make this unit one of the top ten private banks in Switzerland.”

French by birth, Pascal Boris is married with five children. A French Foreign Trade Advisor since 2001, he was also Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce in the UK for six years and a member of the City of London’s European Affairs Committee.
